Community Food Bank Operation Give a Gift Underway!

Welcome to another wonderful Christmas season.
As we begin to enter this time, plans have been in full swing at the Burford Community Food Bank.
It is an interesting time trying to meet the needs of our clients and follow safety protocols in order to keep both our clients and volunteers safe.
As is to be expected, there has been an increase in demand for assistance through the food bank, but despite the increase our community has been so generous that we have been able to meet the demand.
Our usual plan would be to hold a sit-down Christmas dinner the week before Christmas for all of our clients. At that time we would distribute toys and gifts to the parents for their children. Usually we also offer hats, mitts and scarves for all ages. We would also send them home with a generous Christmas Dinner Hamper.
But with the times we are working in now, we have had to significantly adjust our regular program. We are now offering individual people in the community a chance to get involved and spread the joy.
We have organized a program called Operation Give a Gift. It consists of you choosing a tag that has the details of the items we are looking for. Stop in to The Burford Advance, The Log House or Oliva Market to get all the details on how you can become involved and pick up your tags.
We are planning to hand out Christmas Dinner Hampers to our clients the middle of December.
We have had some local businesses step up and generously donated a number of items to be included in the hamper.
We wish to give a big THANK YOU to Carrie Barfoot:Epicure Consultant, Nelson Family Bluegrass Jamboree, Titan Trailers, The Log House, Pelton Brothers Trucking, Long & McQuade and Over the Road for their bountiful donations to this program.
If you have any questions about how you could become involved in this program or know of someone in our community who could use our assistance please contact:
