County of Brant, ON – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the County of Brant has made the difficult decision to cancel summer day camps and summer recreation programs for 2020.
“This was a difficult decision,” said Lesley Head, the Director of Recreation and Community Development for the County of Brant. “Our number one priority when delivering camps and recreation programs is the health, safety and protection of our campers and staff. We understand that given the intense contact within a large camp setting, operating a summer camp would be a risky activity and challenge the health and safety of everyone involved.”
Caregivers will be issued full refunds for summer camp 2020 payments. Please be patient with staff as we process the refunds. If payment has been made, we will contact you directly.
The County of Brant summer day camps have always been an opportunity for children to be active together and involved in a variety of games, sports and play. With stringent protocols, the essence of camp is gone.
“The County of Brant has strived to provide a comprehensive camp experience for each participant and we want families to know that this decision was not made lightly,” said Head. “We are working on creative and fun ideas to bring the day camp experience to your home this summer in accordance with provincial and local health authority guidance.”
The County also offers a number of online recreational activities for caregivers who are looking to keep their kids busy this summer. A free lending program is available to access recreation and exercise equipment. For more information, visit www.brant.ca/RecAtHome.
We understand that summer day camps offered much needed childcare for many families. For childcare options, please visit www.brant.ca/BrantCares.
